Audio-Visual Services

Watson Library's first computers years ago - networked computers are updated every 3 years. Equipment Available For Campus Use Checkout by Faculty & Staff Only:

  • Television & VCR on Cart
  • Slide Projector
  • Overhead Projector on Cart
  • Audio-Cassette Player
  • Compact Disc / Audio-Cassette Combo
  • Headphones
  • Multi-Media Projection Carts
  • Multi-Media Projection Cases
     
  • Media Center Staff provide the following services pertaining to Carts and Cases:

    • Scheduling, Tracking, Delivery to Classroom, Setup, Removal from Classroom, & Minor Maintenance.
    • Support for our many "Smart" classrooms - including troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
    • Please refer all personal computer questions to Computer Services
  • In-House Library Use by All Patrons:

    • Television/VCR viewing stations in Media Center, Student Lounge, and Upper Level
    • Compact Disc / Audio-Cassette Combo
    • Ellison Die-Cut Machine with 3" Capital and Lower Case Block Letters plus Numbers

How To Request Classroom Equipment

Please note that most academic classrooms already have mounted televisions, VCRs, and overhead projectors.

  1. Only faculty and staff may request equipment. Make the request directly, please. (Too much can get lost in translation if you delegate).
  2. Please call extension 350 or 458 during department hours only, please. We cannot be responsible for voice-mail requests.
  3. A minimum of 48 weekday hours notice is essential to ensure availability and delivery. Book early. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.  Equipment needed for a Monday should be requested by the preceding Thursday.

Due to limited resources and tight scheduling, requests that do not meet these three criteria may be denied. Please report any equipment malfunctions accurately.

Digital Camera Usage Procedures

Consult the manager of the Media Center concerning your project and the type of equipment needed.  The Media Center may be able to assist you; however, the equipment is restricted to WC academic use only. The loan period is limited. Student use is very limited, and is restricted to instances of special faculty permission only.

How to Request Videotaping of Campus Events and Lectures

  1. Only faculty and staff may request video taping. Make the request directly, please.
    (Too much can get lost in translation if you delegate).
  2. The person making the request is legally responsible
    to secure copyright permission to tape the event.
  3. Please call extension 350 or 458 during department hours only, please.
    We cannot be responsible for voice-mail requests.
  4. A minimum of 72 hours (week days) notice is essential to ensure availability.
    Book early. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.

Due to limited resources and tight scheduling, requests that do not meet
these five criteria may be denied.

Duplication Services

Your departmental account will be charged:
Media discs:  $1 each. Only academically oriented, college related materials may be duplicated and only within federal Copyright restrictions on libraries.  Commerical items available for purchase cannot be duplicated.  No personal use items, please.

  1. Only faculty and staff may request duplication. Make the request directly, please.
    (Too much can get lost in translation if you delegate). Use the Order Form below.
  2. Please call extension 350 or 458 during department hours only, please. We cannot be responsible for voice-mail requests.
  3. Duplication is available on a first come, first served basis, and is performed by the Media Center as time permits. No self-service!
  4. Any requests deemed excessive may be reduced in quantity.
  5. Any materials deemed offensive will be denied.
  6. Any duplication that would violate U.S. Copyright Law will be denied.
  7. You must provide all blank media.
