1. Why is Social Media so important to Wilmington College?

Everyone seems to have an opinion on why social media is important and every answer is right. It all depends on how you use these platforms. For Wilmington College, there are a couple things that make social media so important.
First, we view social media accounts as a great way to quickly connect to faculty, students, prospective students, alumni, and any other friends of the college! The two-way dialogue that social media enables us to have with people from all over is extremely valuable in understanding how the public, in general, sees Wilmington College.

Secondly, we have found that more and more people are turning to social media as their main medium to obtain news and information. Many times people first hear of an important news story on twitter or Facebook before a television news program. Therefore, it is imperative to both have and effectively use social media accounts so that we can stay connected to the public and the public can stay connected to us.


2. Why should I request to be verified by Wilmington College?

Simply put, we will help grow your audience. The goal of offering this “verification” is to help drive people to your account and increase engagement. Wilmington College will also allow for a disclaimer to be placed on your page that stats that Wilmington College regards his page as authentic.

By being verified, you will also gain access to the Wilmington College Marketing Team. This team will be here to assist you with any and all issues you may have with your account. They will also be available to help create profile pictures, avatars, and cover photos that best reflect Wilmington College and your group most effectively.

We will also connect your verified page to our Official Facebook and Twitter pages. We will also share special stories that you have shared. Having your account verified is truly a win-win situation for both you and the college.


3. How to apply to be verified?

The verification process is simple, simply fill out this FORM and email to gary_stover@wilmington.edu. Your request will be reviewed and you will be notified about your verification within a week of submitting the form.


4. How long does the verification process take?

As stated earlier, the verification process takes ONE Week. If your verification request is denied, we will supply you a few reasons as to why verification was denied. You can resubmit the form immediately once issues are addressed.
