Comprehensive fire inspections are performed annually by the Wilmington Fire Department in conjunction with the Residence Life and Physical Plant Staffs. We enter each and every student room to ensure that students are in compliance with state and local laws. The policies outlined in the Student Handbook detail what electrical items are allowed in residence facilities.
In addition, the Wilmington Fire Inspector conducts fire extinguisher training and education with all members of the residence life staff each Fall.
What is the frequency of false alarms in the residence facilities?
It varies from residence hall to residence hall and from year to year. Wilmington College students very rarely pull alarms for no reason.
