The Wilmington College-Community Chorus is planning fall semester rehearsals that will culminate with a performance celebrating the 100th birthday of Benjamin Britten in December.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings beginning Sept. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m., in Room 208 of the Boyd Cultural Arts Center on WC’s campus.

Director Elizabeth Haskins, assistant professor of music, noted that chorus members registered for one credit hour should attend an organizational meeting Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.

This fall, in celebration of Britten’s centennial birthday anniversary, the College-Community Chorus will prepare A Ceremony of Carols arranged for mixed chorus, soprano and mezzo-soprano soloists, and harp. Solo opportunities are available by audition, Haskins added.

Music and folders will be provided.

The chorus, along with the College Chorale, will perform at the annual Winter Holiday Concert Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., in Hugh Heiland Theatre, Boyd Cultural Arts Center.

The chorus seeks new members.

Singers, high school age and older with choral or solo experience, are encouraged to participate in College-Community Chorus. Subsequent to the first rehearsal, new members can schedule a brief informal session to determine range with Haskins, who can be contacted at (937) 382-6661 ext. 334 or via email at liz_haskins@wilmington.edu.
