Wilmington College Observes 10-Year Presence at Cincinnati State
WC Offers Bachelor Degree Completion Program at CSTCC
June 30, 2013
In the fall of 2003, seven graduates of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College became the first students to take classes in the Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program offered through Wilmington College.
The collaboration between the two colleges allowed for graduates of Cincinnati State – old and new – to complete their bachelor’s degree by taking courses at the Cincinnati State campus through Wilmington College.
Wilmington College – Cincinnati Branches had been operating branch campuses in the greater Cincinnati area since 1984, so the curriculum and staff was already in place and able to incorporate the new location at Cincinnati State.
According to Dr. Sylvia Stevens, the Founding Director of the program who is now the Associate Vice President of External Campuses for Wilmington in Blue Ash, the program has graduated over 200 students since its inception. Their estimated enrollment for this fall will be over 120 students.
The program consists of mostly non-traditional, adult learners who take evening and weekend classes to earn degrees in Business Administration – Management, Business Administration – Business Analysis, or Multimedia Studies.
It shares four full-time instructors and several adjunct instructors with the Wilmington College branch campus at Blue Ash. Like the main campus in Wilmington, Ohio, Quaker values such as social justice, peace, diversity, and global awareness are emphasized in the coursework. Unique classes such as MA342 Diversity in the Workplace and HI350-50 History of Cincinnati (a walking tour) are quite popular among the students.
An appealing characteristic of the program that is of considerable interest is the scholarship that is offered to Cincinnati State associate degree holders. The program also caters to working adults by offering classes in flexible formats including accelerated, hybrid, and online.
Cincinnati State degree holders who are interested in completing their bachelor’s degree at the Cincinnati State campus through Wilmington College should contact Sarah Young, Coordinator of the Cincinnati State Degree Completion Program, by calling 513-569-1806 or emailing email@example.com. Prospective students will receive a free transfer evaluation and have the opportunity to discuss bachelor’s degree completion options.
