International Club

Fostering Cultural Appreciation

The International Club has a long history at Wilmington College as the school has always possessed an interest in other cultures and has welcomed students from around the world. Twice a year, the Club hosts the International Food Festival, a popular event that draws several hundred students and other members of the campus community. One especially distinct feature of the International Club is its membership is comprised of both American and international students. In fact, the Club has elected co-presidents in recent years, one American and another international, who work together, with the organization's faculty/staff adviser, in leading the effort in developing programming, planning group excursions, enhancing member recruitment and running meetings.

In recent years, the College has hosted international students from Western Europe, Asia, Wet Africa, Central Africa, Central Europe, Northern Europe, Central America. and South America. The College holds these students in high regard and respects their courage and motivation in attending college thousands of miles from their homes and navigating their studies in English as a second language. Many international students have graduated from Wilmington College and enjoy lifelong friendships with those they met at WC.

Some of the International Club's recent activities have included attending sporting events featuring the Cincinnati Bengals (American Professional Football), Cincinnati Reds (Major League Baseball) and Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew and F.C. Cincinnati teams. Also, the group has had excursions to Cincinnati Museum Center, Dayton Air Force Museum, Cincinnati's Taft Museum, Indiana International Festival, Columbus International Festival, Fort Ancient Native American Earthworks, the National Underground Railroad History and Museum Center, American Sign Museum and restaurants featuring Indian, Japanese, Mexican, Lebanese, Chinese and Moroccan cuisine.
