Spring 2024 Academic Awards

The following scholarships and awards are available to first-time freshman students entering Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus. Scholarships and awards are reviewed annually and renewed for the term of the award providing the student is in academic good standing and maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award. These awards may only be applied to fall and spring semesters for a total of eight semesters unless otherwise noted.

There is not a separate application process for these awards unless otherwise noted. All students are considered at the time they are accepted for admission to the College.

First-Time Freshman Merit Awards

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
$20,000 per year
Eligible for students who have high school GPA of 3.75+

RECOGNITION AWARD
$16,000-$18,000 per year
Eligible for admitted students who have a 2.0-3.74 high school GPA.

Academic Awards are based on the applicant’s cumulative grade point average at the time of admission.


Wilmington Scholars Program*

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Full Tuition each year

DEAN’S SCHOLARSHIP
$22,000 per year

Presidential Scholarships are determined from the on-campus scholarship program. Qualifications: 3.5–4.0 cumulative grade point average and 25-36 ACT composite (SAT 1200 minimum combined score).


Leadership Scholarships*

TRUSTEE LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
$22,000 per year

CAMPUS IMPACT LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
$20,000 per year

Students who have a track record of leadership in one’s school, community, or personal life may apply for Wilmington College’s top leadership awards.

QUAKER LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
$20,000 per year

The student must be an active member of their Yearly Meeting or a graduate of a Quaker high school.


Diversity Scholarship*

SCHOLARS OF PROMISE
$20,000 per year

WC Scholars of Promise is an award for high achieving students of underrepresented and minority status who possess a strong commitment to diversity, service and leadership.

* Available for Fall 2023 entry. Scholars Program, Leadership and Diversity scholarships will replace initial awards. A co-curricular requirement applies to all award recipients.


Heritage and Awards of Circumstance

GATEWAY+ AWARD
$19,000 per year

Available to US domestic students whose state of legal residence is not Ohio at the time of admission.

LEGACY AWARD
$1,000 per year
Student’s parent, step-parent, grandparent, great-grandparent or sibling must be a graduate of WC or sibling must be attending Wilmington College in the current academic year.

MULTICULTURAL AWARD
$1,000 per year
Awarded at the time of admission to traditionally underrepresented student populations. Qualifying ethnicity must be included on the Application for Admission at the time of submission.

Students receiving the recognition award may be eligible for the Legacy and/or Multicultural awards and may qualify for up-to a total of $2,000 per year.


Talent Awards

ATHLETIC BANDS AWARD**
$1,000 per year

Offered to students who play a musical instrument and
submit a Pep Band Participation Application during the admission process.

PERFORMING ARTS TALENT AWARD**
$1,000 per year
Offered to students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the areas of performing arts (acting, singing, dancing, musical performance [vocal and instrumental] or technical design and management).

IHSA EQUESTRIAN TEAM TALENT AWARD**
$1,500 per year
Offered to students who submit a Riding Team Participation Application during the admission process.

** Available for Fall 2023 entry. Students must submit an intent to participate form during the admission process. (Students entering in Spring Semester are not eligible.)

The College reserves the right to review, adjust, or cancel awards at any time as a result of changes in stated tuition, academic status, full or part time status, housing status, or a student’s conduct. The above awards will be replaced for students receiving tuition benefits due to a parent’s employment at Wilmington College or another participating Tuition Exchange or CIC institution.


Transfer Scholarship and Awards Program 2023-24

The following scholarships and awards are available to transfer students entering Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus. Scholarships and awards are reviewed annually and renewed for the term of the award providing the student is in academic good standing and maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award. These awards may only be applied to fall and spring semesters for a total of eight semesters unless otherwise noted.

Transfer Merit Awards

Based on the applicant’s cumulative grade point average at the time of admission.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP
$20,000 per year
Recipients must be a member of the community college honors organization Phi Theta Kappa.

TRANSFER HONOR SCHOLARSHIP
$18,000
Eligible students with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher with 60 or more transferable credit hours.

TRANSFER HONOR SCHOLARSHIP
$17,500
Eligible students with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher with 12-59 transferable credit hours.

TRANSFER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
$16,000 per year
Eligible students with a 3.0-3.49 cumulative GPA or higher.

TRANSFER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
$15,000 per year
Eligible students with a 2.0-2.99 cumulative GPA or higher.
