Equestrian Team Excels in Fall Competition

Two Hunt Seat Riders Win Their Events at Miami Wilmington College’s equestrian team started its fall season with outstanding performances in Western and Hunt Seat competitions. The team opened in mid-September with a Western doubleheader at WC’s Equine Center against three other colleges in the IHSA: Miami University, The Ohio State University and Ohio University, while Oct. 2 the Hunt Seat team competed at Miami University against Miami, University of Dayton, Otterbein University, The Ohio State University and Ohio University.  WC’s results from the Western show include: Brianna Akam - Beginner Division – sixth place in the morning show and fourth place in the afternoon (Brianna collected enough points in her division to qualify for Regionals on March 12); Kaitie Hodges - Beginner Division - second place in the a.m. show and fourth place in the p.m.; Adrianna Hibbard - Intermediate II Division - fourth place in the a.m. show; Taylor Hill - Intermediate II Division - fourth place in the morning show and fifth in the afternoon; Kalynn Gillum - Intermediate II Division – sixth p lace in the a.m. show and fifth in the p.m.; Madison McConn - Intermediate II Division - fifth place in the a.m. show and sixth in the p.m.  Also, Amanda Szabo - Intermediate II Division - fifth place in the p.m. show.; Maggie Kwiatkowski - Intermediate II Division – third place in the afternoon show; Emma Washburn - Intermediate II Division - second place in the a.m. show and sixth in the afternoon; Chelsea Argo - Intermediate II Division - fifth place in the a.m. show and fourth in the p.m.; Kelsey Stone - Intermediate II Division - fourth in the morning show; and Allison Flora - Advanced Division - fifth in the a.m. show and sixth in the p.m. The results for the Hunt Seat team at Miami University feature two competition winners: Mikal Porter, Beginner Division, and Ali Davis, Novice Division. The equestrian team has five shows remaining this year with a Western doubleheader at Miami next on the schedule.
