Prestigious Degree Presentations This Weekend at National FFA Convention in Indianapolis
The high quality of students in Wilmington College's agriculture program was affirmed once again by the large number who will receive their American FFA Degree Saturday's (Oct. 30) at the 94th annual National Future Farmers of America Convention in Indianapolis.
Some 29 WC students will be among those across the nation who have earned the American Degree, which represents the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization. The American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to his or her chapter and state FFA association.
Fewer than one percent of members earn this prestigious honor, according to Dr. Chad McKay, assistant professor of agriculture at WC, who praised those WC students for their dedication and hard work.
"I like to describe the process as when students enroll in the program, the American FFA degree is the goal in mind," he said. "In a way, it culminates their journey that they begin as early as their junior high school years and concludes during their undergraduate college careers."
Wilmington College students receiving their American Degrees are: Taylor Ayars, Kelsey Broering, Sadie Devore, Grace Dicke, Heidi Edens, Gavin Ewing, Sydney Flory, Ellie Gehret, Ian Gehret, Cora Gillespie, Anna Irwin, Mekenzie Jolliff, Taylor Kenska, Kearsten Kirby, Mariah Knowles, Caroline Liggett, Aubrey McCoy, Morgan McFarland, Abigail Rodefer, Aubrey Schwartz, Kyle Searson, Delaney Shively, Grace Smith, Deven Speck, Adelyn Stalder, Brandon Suever, Paige Teeters, Jacob Walter and Kayla Wyse.
