Wilmington College learned that alumna and former trustee Carolyn Douglass Matthews had passed away this week. The 1959 graduate served on the Board of Trustees from 1994 through 2006.
President Corey Cockerill is familiar with her legacy of service to the College. "The campus community is saddened to learn of Carolyn Matthews' passing,” Cockerill said. “She was a highly engaged alumna who also served the College as a valued member of the Board of Trustees for 12 years. The College's collective thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
Matthews and her husband, Fred, a 1951 graduate who survives, moved from Wilmington to Cincinnati several years ago to be closer to family members. For many years, the couple enjoyed hosting College-related events at their home and attending events at WC.
