New Faculty Hired in Social Sciences, Biology, Sport Sciences, Accounting, Agriculture and Math
The College hired a number of new faculty and staff members in recent months and looks forward to their contributions in support of teaching and learning at WC.
Five new faculty members and two visiting faculty members are starting the fall 2015 semester.

Sonya Goshe, Ph.D., J.D., is a new assistant professor of criminal justice (replacing Joyce Dozier), who comes from teaching at the University of California. Sonya received her Ph.D. in June from the University of California, Irvine, in criminology, law and society. She also holds a J.D. from The Ohio State University, a Master of Education from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Savitha Krishna, Ph.D., is a new assistant professor of biology, replacing Chasity Coleman. She holds a Ph.D., Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degree from Mangalore University, India, in applied zoology, biosciences and biology, respectively. Savitha was a member of the biology faculty at Antioch College, where she developed its Biomedical Department. She brings extensive research, publication and grant-writing experience.
Alex Rhinehart is no stranger to WC as he is a new assistant professor of sport sciences and athletic trainer, replacing Kim Isaac. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the College and has been an athletic trainer with Drayer Physical Therapy Institute assigned to Wilmington College. Alex is currently ABD for a doctorate in athletic training at the University of Idaho. He holds a master’s degree in advanced athletic training from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and served on the AT faculty at the University of Mount Union.
Audrey Wagstaff Cunningham, Ph.D., is a new associate professor of social science, replacing Mary Ellen Batiuk. She has a Ph.D. in communication studies and a Master of Arts in journalism from Kent State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Hiram College. She was an associate professor at Hiram and possesses an extensive background in publications, research methods, communication and social sciences.
Kathy Kennedy is the new assistant professor of accounting, replacing Steve Allen. She comes to WC from Miami University, where she taught for 10 years while also having teaching experience at the University of Cincinnati and WC’s Blue Ash campus. She holds both a Bachelor and Master of Arts degree with concentrations in accounting from Miami.
Chad McKay is an assistant visiting professor of agriculture and Don Muchmore is an assistant visiting professor of mathematics this year.
A 2013 graduate of WC’s agriculture program, Chad earned his Master of Science degree in Agriculture in agribusiness economics in 2014 from Southern Illinois University, where he was a graduate teaching assistant in agricultural economics and finance.
Don is a member of WC’s Class of 1973 as a math major and has a Master of Education degree in guidance and counseling from Xavier University. He retired in 2009 after 36 years at Little Miami High School. Don taught his first class as an adjunct faculty member for WC in 1978 and has taught at the College’s main campus, Cincinnati campuses and in its correctional education program.
