‘Hairspray’ Musical Ready for Five-Show Run

4 Shows SOLD OUT; Seats Only Available for Saturday Matinee The joint Wilmington College and Wilmington High School production of the musical, Hairspray, will take the stage for five shows Thursday through Sunday (Nov.17 through 20) at WC’s Heiland Theatre. The evening shows and Sunday matinee are sold out while Saturday's 2:30 p.m. show has seats available. It's Tracy's first appearance as a Council Member performer on the Corny Collins Show. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by visiting the WC Theatre Box Office in Boyd Cultural Arts Center weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by calling the office for reservations during those hours at (937) 481-2267. Producer and director are Wynn Alexander, professor of theatre at WC, and Bryan Wallingford, theatre director at WHS. The stage musical Hairspray, which features music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, is based on the 1988 John Waters film, Hairspray. The cast of 65 Wilmington College and Wilmington High School students includes: Kya Resor as Tracy Turnblad, Andy Haag as Edna Turnblad, Brittany Barnett as Amber von Tussle, Keni Brown as Velma von Tussle, Theresa Knopf as Penny Pingleton, Emily Knisely as Prudy Pingleton, Victoria Martini as Motormouth Maybelle, Cheyann McKee as Little Inez, Dakota Cravens as Link Larkin, Wyatt Henderson as Corny Collins, Tevin Amburgy as Seaweed J. Stubbs. Also, Nick Hutson as Wilbur Turnblad, Blake Carter as Mr. Pinky and prison guard, Matt Reinhart as Herriman Spritzer and the principal, Genesis Rocks as the prison matron and Carly Pritchard as the gym teacher. The Council Kids are: Samantha Burns as Tammy, Emily Davis as Lou Ann, Olivia Lewis as Shelley, Averi Vance as Brenda, Aidan Greene as IQ, Simon Heys as Brad, Kade Neu as Sketch and Troy Oates as Fender. The Detention Kids are: David Booher as Thad, Nicademus Hayward as Gilbert, Brandin Williams-Johnson as Duane, Isaiah Pringle as Stooie, Brittany Montgomery as Cindy Watkins and Jubie Resor as Lorraine. The Dynamites are Kelly Angevine, Brandi James and Tiffany Rivers, while The Pinkies are Shelby Dodds, Jessica Fair, Nina Roberts and Alana Walker. Council Mothers include Sabrina Bowman, Jen Cochran, Lexi Mahaffa and Carly Pritchard. The Record Shop Kids are: Goldie Cassell, Darrian Cole, Aaliyah Compton, Elexis Murdock, Seth Murdock, Camaree Settles, Destiny Smith, Alisa Turner and Qiara Williams. The Baltimorians are: Keely Allen, Petra Bray, Raina Clark, Damian Gario, Anna Garnai, Hannah Joeckel, Sydney Johnston, Olivia Minney, Brooklyn Nielsen, Sophie Reed, Jordan Snarr, Seth Stevens, Abigail Tackett and Aubree Trusty. In addition to Alexander and Wallingford, other members of the production staff are: set design by Lois Hock, light design by Becky Haines, choreography by Cole Haugh and Ami Gallagher-Filip, music direction by Timothy Larrick and Gina Beck, orchestra direction by Matt Spradlin and costumes and wigs by Tara Lydy and Wynn Alexander.
