Latin Academic Honors Announced for Graduating Seniors

Students Earn Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude Designations A number of seniors will be graduating with Latin academic honors June 6. Dr. Erika Goodwin, vice president for academic affairs and strategic initiatives/dean of the faculty, announced those students who completed their undergraduate studies cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude. "Academic honors are given in recognition of superior scholarship," Goodwin said. "Congratulations to our WC graduates graduating with honors!" She offered special recognition for the four students, Emma Marks, Celeste Nye, Emily Rinehart and Emory Triance, who completed their College careers with perfect 4.0 GPAs.  At graduation, a cum laude designation is conferred upon students who have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 to 3.74; magna cum laude is conferred upon graduating students who have a GPA of 3.75 to 3.90; and summa cum laude is conferred upon graduating students who have a GPA of 3.91 to 4.00. The calculation of honors is based on Wilmington College resident credit and any credit transferred to Wilmington College. Latin academic honors recognize student grade point averages as of May 2020. The College recognizes those students attaining these levels of superior scholarship with green and white honor cords at Commencement. Summa cum laude: Ashley Buck, Ashley Nicole Dailey, Jack H.
