Live Theatre Returns to Wilmington College Nov. 18-20

Name of Show Cannot Be Revealed until Week of Production Theatre performed live on stage before in-person audiences is returning to Wilmington College, and no one is happier than director Wynn Alexander, the production staff and all those students for whom presenting live entertainment is a life passion. "We're back! We're being creative again and we're so looking forward to performing — live — in front of an audience including the campus, parents and families, and the greater community that has been so supportive of Wilmington College Theatre through the years," said Alexander. "It's been a long time — February 2020 to be exact, right before the pandemic hit — since we have been able to perform for the community," he added. "This unique scenario is not lost upon the cast and crew. WC Theatre more than excited to partner with community members in bringing back live theatre and share with our audiences our passion for our craft." After the spring 2020 show was forced to be cancelled, WC Theatre presented its fall 2020 show, Sordid Lives, before a very limited campus-only audience and filmed its 2021 spring show, Fierce: The Fearless Women of Shakespeare's Plays, for viewing exclusively online. The upcoming musical will be Nov. 18, 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m., in WC's Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. Due to a nearby professional production of the same show, advertising restrictions prohibit WC from using the name of the musical until the week of the show. “Let’s just say, the musical is based off a well-known 80s movie and everyone in the movie except the star is one degree removed from Kevin Bacon,” said Alexander. WC Theatre is offering limited seating for the shows in order to practice social distancing. Seating will be in pairs with an empty seat between groups. Facial coverings are required to be worn for the entirety of the production, per the College's COVID-19 protocols. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by contacting the Theatre Ticket Office weekdays, from 9 to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., at 937.481.2267.
