Membership Requirements Include Successfully Completing a Leadership Development Program
Opportunities for leadership development represent a hallmark of a Wilmington College education. Earlier this year, the National Society of Leadership Success inducted 64 WC students for official NSLS membership in a virtual ceremony that featured acclaimed business futurist Marvin Dejean as the keynote speaker.
“We are at the entry point of a world that will be radically different than anything we have ever seen on our planet," Dejean said, noting that both the level of risks and opportunities available to the next generation of leaders will grow exponentially in the next decades. "Our world will need a very different type of leader to tackle the challenges ahead, and the NSLS is at the forefront of preparing the right leaders for the right time."

The National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation's largest honor society and collegiate leadership development program. It differentiates itself from traditional honor societies in that students must complete a step-by-step leadership development program in order to become inducted.
The curriculum offers students the opportunity to develop many in-demand skills such as leadership, communication and team building. Members also will have the opportunity to complete additional educational modules. WC students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average for nomination consideration.
Benefits of membership include scholarships and awards, access to a job bank, partner discounts and benefits on many retail goods and services, custom recommendations, professional communication training and access to a nationwide network of more than a million NSLS members from 650 colleges and universities.
Kayla Wyse, student president of Wilmington College NSLS Chapter, said, “This year was a trial that called everyone to greater leadership, greater communication and greater flexibility. It is like we were standing on a cliff and 2020 pushed us off the cliff and we had two choices: to fly or fall.
"To me, courageous leadership means to know when to fall and when to fly," she added. "By joining NSLS and becoming the student president, I have learned what it means to be a courageous leader. 2020 did not happen to me, but for me.”
