Dr. Russell Kincaid: 'These students exhibit true excellence in their academic endeavors'
The Wilmington College Natural Sciences Area has announced special student scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year. These awards, which are available as a result of endowed gifts to the College, are specifically earmarked for students in the fields of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.

Dr. Russell Kincaid, professor of mathematics and physics and coordinator of the Natural Sciences Area, noted that faculty members within these departments selected qualifying students who "exemplify dedication, enthusiasm and high academic performance within these disciplines,"
This year’s winners include 13 students.
Hannah (Nico) Swepston received the Dr. Orville R. Rogers Endowed Scholarship and Logan Frazier the Jack Persinger Endowed Memorial Scholarship.
Other recipients include: Sam Foote, the Dr. Orville R. Rogers Endowed Scholarship and Frank & Dorothy Laymon Scholarship; Jake Jubach, Jack Persinger Endowed Memorial Scholarship; Gabriel Swaisgood, Jack Persinger Endowed Memorial Scholarship and Proctor & Gamble WC Alumni Scholarship; Haley Fulton, Ruth Esther Fisher-Durham Endowed Scholarship; Shannon Browning, Ruth Esther Fisher-Durham Endowed Scholarship and Frank & Dorothy Laymon Scholarship.
Also, Kayci Johnson, John W. Robinson Memorial Health Science Scholarship; Olivia Boczar, Ruth Esther Fisher-Durham Endowed Scholarship; Morgan McKnight, Frank O. Hazard Memorial Scholarship and John W. Robinson Memorial Health Science Scholarship; Christina Yarian, Howard E. Bales Scholarship; Caden McKay, Lawrence & Ruby Adamson Memorial Scholarship; and Sharon McFall, Lawrence & Ruby Adamson Memorial Scholarship and Martha E. Haines Scholarship.
Kincaid said the Natural Sciences Area continues to bring in excellent students who deserve the special recognition and financial rewards inherent in these awards and scholarships.
“These students work hard on their studies, and are active in the department doing research, tutoring and serving as lab assistants," he added. "They manage all of their academic and extracurricular activities and manage to exhibit true excellence in their academic endeavors."
