Sunshine, Football Cliffhanger, Awards, Pageantry and Good Spirits Rule the Day
The Fightin' Quakers football team overcame a double-digit deficit in its come-from-behind victory on Wilmington College's Homecoming Sept. 17. The never-say-die team staged a case study of perseverance in never giving up as it claimed a 32-26 defeat of rival Otterbein University.

The game framed a full day of activities that combined Homecoming, Family Day and Alumni Reunion Weekend.
At halftime, seniors Zach Schecter and Haley Fulton were crowned Homecoming king and queen. They were introduced along with their court that featured freshmen Tsepo Tsolo Mohlakwana and Faith Maloney, sophomores Shannon O'Boyle and Isaac Hackney, juniors Cassidy Lovett and Brandon Suever, and seniors Connor Tullius, Sharon McFall and Jake Jubach.
Amnesty International won the banner contest while Greek Bed Races team of Farm House fraternity and Sigma Alpha sorority beat Delta Theta Sigma/Gamma Beta Eta by eight seconds as the winners' landing of a cornhole bag in the hole from 20 feet proved to be the difference in the competition. Two days earlier, the WC Swim Team #1 won the 13-team, Mud Volleyball Tournament with the Fightin' Faculty earning the best-dressed award for their matching T-shirts.
Food trucks lined Elm St. and children took advantage of a half dozen inflatable games and bumper cars attractions on Collett Mall. Also, Brad Schwamberger '83, volunteer curator of Hazard Arboretum, presented a walk through the College's "Emerald Splendor" highlighting "Our Southern Cousins," which featured trees in the arboretum normally found south of the Mason-Dixon line.
Aggieville attracted numerous agriculture alumni as the program continued its Diamond Jubilee celebration started in June. Other affinity groups, ranging from multicultural alumni and former swim members to those from sororities and fraternities, held reunions throughout the day. Indeed, the Class of 1972 observed the 50th anniversary of their graduation with the annual Quaker Medallion ceremony and a banquet held in their honor. Other milestone year reunions were held for the classes of 1982, 1992 and 2002.
