Two Riders and Equestrian Team Advance to IHSA Nationals

Wilmington College junior Maegan Pearson earned accolades as the Overall High-Point Rider this weekend at the National Semi-Finals in Sweedsboro, NJ. She, teammate Paige Kopiec and the six-rider team will represent the College at the International Horse Show Assn. (IHSA) National Championships at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, NC, May 2 through 4.

Pearson was the Reserve Champion in Open Horsemanship, fourth in Reining and sixth in Team Reining. She is bound for the National Finals in Open Horsemanship. Also, Kopiec placed fourth in Individual Horsemanship and fifth in Team Horsemanship.

A first for Wilmington College, its six-rider team tied for third and qualified to compete in the Team Championships at Nationals. Members include Pearson, Kopiec, Hattie Hobbs, Kori Moore, Mia Reider and Olivia Chase.

Hobbs was the champion in her team Horsemanship class, Moore placed third in her Team Horsemanship, Reider was third in her Team Horsemanship and Chase placed sixth in Team Ranch Riding.

Maegan Pearson was the High-Point Rider at this weekend's Semi-Nationals and advanced to the National Championships as both an individual and team competitor.
