Hope Florea Is Accepted to Intern at Asian Rural Institute
Wilmington College junior Hope A. Florea was accepted as a summer intern at the Asian Rural Institute in Tochigi, Japan. She follows in the WC footsteps of Emma Marks and Julio Olivarez, who interned at the Institute in 2019.
Florea, of Clarksville, is majoring in English and political studies with a minor in sociology. She is a graduate of Blanchester High School.
The Asian Rural Institute is a place of communal learning that welcomes participants from around the globe to share ideas for a sustainable and peaceful life. They train rural leaders from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific to help grassroots communities become self-reliant. ARI offers learning and research opportunities about community, peace and sustainable fruit and vegetable gardening to the public and seeks to build meaningful worldwide relationships with supporters and partners who concur with its mission.
She said she expects the culturally diverse experience will provide her with a greater insight into various cultures, nationalities and religions.
Florea is receiving support for travel expenses from the College's Isaac Harvey Fund, Peace Resource Center and the Lew Marcuson Fund.
