Wilmington College Bolsters Faculty with New Members

Eleven new faculty members are starting the College’s 148th academic year at Wilmington College. Steve Szeghi, interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, said he believes it’s the largest group of new faculty in his 31 years at the College. The influx coincides with what appears to be WC’s largest entering class of students ever. “They are infused with energy, vitality and enthusiasm,” he said about the new faculty members. “This is indeed a great day for the College to be able to welcome such a large group of new and accomplished individuals.” They include: [caption id="attachment_141047" align="alignright" width="150"]Ed Besong Edmund Besong[/caption] Edmund Besong is a visiting assistant professor of economics and business administration who went on to earn his Juris Doctor and Master of Science degree in accounting from Ohio Northern University following his graduation from Wilmington College. He is an entrepreneur who has experience with Goldman Sachs in New York City and JP Morgan in Columbus. [caption id="attachment_141048" align="alignleft" width="150"] Timothy Burgoyne Timothy Burgoyne[/caption] Timothy Burgoyne, assistant professor of management, has a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies from Union Institute, a Master of Arts degree from Thomas More and a Bachelor of Science from Franklin University. He has experience as a business executive for Staples and has taught at Walla Walla University, Chatfield College and Nazarene College. [caption id="attachment_141050" align="alignright" width="150"]Christopher Collins Christopher Collins[/caption] Christopher Collins is an assistant professor of English and director of the Writing Center. He has a Ph.D. in creative writing (poetry) from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Fine Arts from Murray State in creative writing, a Master of Education from Xavier University and a B.A. in English from Thomas More College. [caption id="attachment_141051" align="alignleft" width="150"]Sara Culler Sara Culler[/caption] Sara Culler, visiting assistant professor of economics, has a Bachelor of Science in psychology and business administration from Wilmington College, a Master of Business Administration in public administration from Ohio Dominican University and she has held various analyst positions in state government, including with ODOT and Medicare. [caption id="attachment_141049" align="alignright" width="150"]Cole Dawson Cole Dawson[/caption] Cole Dawson, associate vice president for academic affairs, has been at WC since January. He also oversees the Title III Grant. He has a Ph.D. and a Master of Arts degree in history from Miami University and a B.A. in social studies from Anderson University. Dawson previously served as a professor of history and vice president for academic affairs at Warren Pacific College. [caption id="attachment_141056" align="alignleft" width="150"]Wendy Grab Wendy Grab[/caption] Wendy Grab, visiting assistant professor of social work, is a licensed social worker with a Master in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and a B.A. in art therapy from Antioch College. She has been a caseworker and community organizer, in addition to teaching while in graduate school. [caption id="attachment_141055" align="alignright" width="150"]Peggy Larrick Peggy Larrick[/caption] Peggy Larrick, assistant professor of education, has a Ph.D. in philosophy with a concentration in leadership, culture and curriculum studies from the University of Miami, a Master of Education from Walden College and a Bachelor of Science from Miami. [caption id="attachment_141046" align="alignleft" width="150"]Amanda Rollins Amanda Rollins[/caption] Amanda Rollins, assistant professor of biology, has a Ph.D. in biological anthropology and an M.S. in anthropology, both from Indiana University, and a B.A. in biology from West Virginia University. [caption id="attachment_141053" align="alignright" width="150"]Michael Secrest Michael Secrest[/caption] Michael Secrest, visiting assistant professor of biology, has a Ph.D. from Union Institute, an M.A.T. in biological science from Miami University, an M.A. in education from Mount St. Joseph University and a B/S/ in secondary education from the University of Cincinnati. He worked as adjunct faculty member at Wilmington College, in addition to teaching at Winton Woods Schools in Cincinnati. [caption id="attachment_141054" align="alignleft" width="150"] Nick Wiget Nick Wiget[/caption] Nick Wiget, instructor of communication arts, is all but dissertation in his Ph.D. program in communication studies at Bowling Green State University. He also has a Master of Arts in communication from the University of Dayton and his bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College. He has taught as adjunct faculty member at both WC and Southern State Community College.
