T. Canby Jones Meetinghouse
Attached to the north side of the Quaker Heritage Center is the T. Canby Jones Meetinghouse, which is named in honor of the prominent Quaker theologian and longtime religion and philosophy professor, Thomas Canby Jones, who served on the College’s faculty from 1955 through 1987. The Meetinghouse is part of the Boyd Cultural Arts Center, which opened in fall 2005. The facility was specially dedicated honoring Jones in fall 2008. Styled like traditional Quaker meetinghouses, it features a simple configuration of pews pointing toward the center of the space coming from three directions. It is regularly used for Campus Wednesday Worship, faculty meetings, QHC programs and by Campus Friends Meeting.
WC Community Gardens
Wilmington College Community Gardens works to increase the access to fresh food for families, promote the benefits of local food production and raise awareness of self-sustainability in our daily food habits regardless of socioeconomic status or economic opportunity.
We believe that by supporting community and backyard gardening projects, we can create dynamic and self-reliant communities in Southwestern Ohio while providing people with the means they need to live more healthy, productive and meaningful lives.
To meet our goals, we maintain the 26-plot Community Garden, provide the means and manpower for families to establish their own backyard garden plots, support school yard garden initiatives, host workshops and work with regional partners to establish new community garden sites.
